God promised a descendent who will crush the head of the serpent. Adam and Eve faithfully bear two sons outside of the garden. Surely, one of them will be the promised descendant! But the older kills the younger. Is God's plan of redemption undermined? Of course not! God reveals his character and his method for his plan of redemption through the narrative of Cain and Abel.
