1 John 2:1

1 John 2:1 — "My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."

I'll keep it short today. Part of God's grace is His Word given to us and revealing His grace, mercy, and character. As we see God, we see the example of how we should be, holy as He is holy. But we fall short of that often, probably every day in one way or another. And by God's grace and favor, we have an advocate in Jesus Christ, the righteous one and Son of God.

That should encourage us to live faithful, obedient lives, but the reality is we are still sinners. Yet we stand in Christ and His righteousness not our own. We are saved by grace through faith in Christ alone for the glory of God alone as revealed in Scripture.

Obedience is the fruit, not the root. Christ is the root, and let's strive to abide in Him!
