CPC JULY MISSION OF THE MONTH:
FAMILY PROMISE OF BALDWIN COUNTY
This year in our country, more than 2.5 million children will experience homelessness. Perhaps even more startling than that is to know that there are homeless families in an affluent area such as Baldwin County.
Family Promise of Baldwin County steps in to help these families get back on their feet. Their mission is to provide “temporary shelter, transitional housing, related service and nurturing support to families with children experiencing homelessness and to assist them with obtaining suitable and permanent housing.”
Christ Presbyterian has been committed to supporting Family Promise of Baldwin County for many years! We offer support in the following ways:
1. We act as a SUPPORT CHURCH to Resurrection Church in Daphne which “Hosts” guest homeless families approximately four times per year.
2. During those four times per year, CPC provides FOOD for the families and PHYSICAL SUPPORT to Resurrection Church by being there during the dinner meal and overnight. Each of the families has their own private room and beds as do we as the support team.
3. During those four times per year, we provide a new BIBLE and information to each of the homeless families.
4. We provide SUPPORT for Family Promise’s main fundraiser, The Chocolate Affair which takes place each year at Daphne Civic Center, early in December. CPC is the primary donor to the desserts provided at this event. We also like to rally a huge group of folks to attend the event as well!
5. We provide PRAYER for this program and for these precious families who are struggling to get back on their feet and in permanent housing.
Matthew 25 (vss. 35-36 and 40) remind us of this: “for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me…And the King will answer and say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”
