3 Reasons to Volunteer in the CPC Youth Group
“One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.” –Psalm 145:4
Last Sunday, I asked for volunteers, especially female volunteers, to serve in our church youth group. Why should you consider serving? Psalm 145:4 provides three reasons:
1) God Worked For You: The psalmist says that one generation of God’s people is to commend his work to the next generation. At some point in your past, a faithful Christian commended God’s work to you. God used that person to draw you to himself. Perhaps it was a pastor, Sunday School teacher, or youth group mentor. God worked for you through that person.
2) God Is Working In You: Since that time, God has been at work in you through his Holy Spirit. He is transforming you day by day into the image of his Son. This work of transformation is one of God’s most “mighty acts” – as the psalmist says.
3) God Wants to Work Through You: As you are transformed into the image of Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit, God longs to use you for the work of his kingdom. Volunteering in the youth group is not for those who have “made it” – who have already been transformed into the image of God’s Son. The only people who have “made it” and have completed their transformation are in heaven. God longs to work through you even as he works in you – to declare his mighty acts to the next generation.
Would you prayerfully consider serving in our youth group here at CPC? The next generation is counting on us.
