Get to Know Jeff Lowther!
We have all heard the phrase, “still waters run deep”; that certainly applies to Jeff Lowther.
He may be quiet and unassuming but don’t let that fool you as Jeff is multi-talented and multi-layered!
Jeff has worked in a variety of settings over the years – from farming to computers to restaurants (and more) but currently he is self-employed. His business involves furniture building, repair, restoration, installation and fabrication work. Part of his work involves collaboration with interior decorators and designers.
You will also find Jeff outside working with a vegetable garden and plants. He has enjoyed many outdoor activities over the years including sailing, camping, rowing, kayaking and hiking.
While Jeff grew up in a Southern Baptist tradition, he attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in the Spring Hill area following college. At some point, he became friends with the pastors at Central Presbyterian Church where he had been involved in volunteer work.
Jeff was led to CPC by way of a dear friend, Norman McCrummen, a retired Presbyterian pastor who holds a special place in many of our hearts. Norman pointed Jeff in this direction (thanks be to God!). Upon visiting, Jeff was attracted to the friendly and loving congregation and refreshing sermons.
A native of Mobile and having lived in Mobile and Baldwin County all his life, Jeff studied at
Southwest State and also The University of South Alabama where he focused on math and sciences.
Jeff is fondly dedicated to his family: (check out the cute granddaughter in the photo!) - his
daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter who live in Daphne and also a daughter and granddaughter in Birmingham.
Jeff sings with the CPC Music Team and always offers a hand wherever he can help. He is currently working on a special project for the sanctuary area. We can’t wait to see!
Jeff has been active and traveled nationally with a volunteer organization that provides meditation courses to incarcerated persons – this of course has helped him to grow spiritually as well. He is dedicated to a contemplative and daily meditation and participates in intensive silent meditation retreats.
His dream for CPC is to see classes/programs which promote the incorporation of Christian
practices into daily life – long enough that faith habits might form to support living out a loving and fearless walk of Christian life and practice.
Thankful for God’s providence that led Jeff to CPC, please remember him in your prayers and give thanks for the “tie that binds.”
