Mission Update – Fall Fest
“But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.”
- Jeremiah 29:7
Christ Presbyterian Church held it’s annual Fall Fest on Saturday, October 28. The event was a huge success – our best guess is that we had 200-250 attendees. It was a wonderful opportunity to come together and “seek the welfare” of our city. Here are three reflections on the event through the lens of Jeremiah 29:7:
1)God Calls Us to Specific Geographies: Jeremiah says that we are to “seek the welfare of the city” where God sends us. No individual or church has an accidental location. God has placed each of us in Daphne – and he wants to use us to bless the neighborhoods around our church. Fall Fest was the perfect opportunity to do just that.
2)God Calls Us to Pray: Close to 250 people passed through CPC’s campus on Saturday. Every one of them needs prayer. We may not know their names – but God knows who they are. Would you join me in praying for these families? Specifically, would you pray that if they don’t yet know Jesus – he would draw them to himself?
3)God Blesses Us As We Bless Others: My dad often says after big events like Fall Fest that he is “the good kind of tired.” Ministering to our community can be exhausting – but it blesses us in immense ways. As Jeremiah says, “in its welfare you will find your welfare.”
I appreciate each one of you who worked so hard in the preparation and execution of this wonderful event. We couldn’t have pulled it off without you.
