3 Reasons to Volunteer for VBS
“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.’” –Matthew 19:14
Vacation Bible School is quickly approaching! It will be held at the church on June 24-28 from 5:15-7:30 PM. Whether it’s teaching children about Jesus, serving them delicious snacks, or playing fun games with them, we need your help to make VBS a success. Here are three reasons to volunteer for VBS:
1) VBS Will Bless Children: The disciples in Matthew 19 thought that Jesus was too important to be bothered by children, so they tried to send the children away from him. But Jesus taught them, and us, differently! He says, “Let the little children come to me.” By volunteering at VBS, you can be a part of bringing children to faith in Jesus. I can’t think of a better use of our time and energy than that.
2) VBS Will Bless the Church: Jesus said in Acts 20:35, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” He wasn’t making that statement in a merely spiritual or even ethereal way. Jesus meant what he said. You and I are more blessed, happier, and more fulfilled when we give than when we receive. If you give your time and talents to VBS, you will blessed along with the entire church.
3) VBS Will Bless the Community: There are many voices and ideologies competing for the hearts of our children this summer. Some of them are good – but many of them are not. The more the gospel gets out into our community, the more blessed our community will be. You can be a part of that by serving at VBS this year.
If you haven’t already done so, would you call the church office or contact Susan Brown and ask where you can serve at VBS this year?
